Resources & Advocacy

Empowering Storytellers, Uplifting Communities

The National Association of Black Storytellers, Inc. (NABS) is committed to not only preserving our oral traditions, but also protecting the people who carry them. This space is where resources meet action: whether you're seeking funding opportunities, cultural preservation tools, or ways to advocate for storytellers in your community. Through education, access, and collective voice, we amplify the role of Black storytellers as cultural workers, truth-keepers, and agents of change. Explore these tools, stand in your power, and help us ensure our stories are heard, valued, and protected.

Funding & Opportunities

We connect storytellers to grants, fellowships, and opportunities that support artistic growth, community engagement, and cultural preservation. From youth programming to elder residencies, we champion those who keep the tradition alive and thriving.

Protection & Preservation

Our heritage is sacred and very much worth protecting. Access resources on copyright, intellectual property, and oral history documentation. Learn how to preserve your work for future generations while maintaining control over your voice and your story.

Policy & Voice

Whether you're navigating the classroom, the stage, the page, or the policymaking table, NABS stands with you. We advocate for the inclusion of Black voices in cultural institutions, the fair treatment of storytellers as professionals, and the preservation of our sacred traditions in the face of erasure. Together, we speak boldly, act justly, and carry the story forward.
